AIP: Fever, cough, worsening dyspnea over 1-2 weeks, will progress to the inability to breath, CXR shows bilateral diffuse opacities, lung biopsy shows organizing DAD, tx with mechanical ventilation

  • AIP
  • aka: Acute interstitial pneumonia, Organizing DAD, Hamman-Rich syndrome,
  • Fever, cough, worsening dyspnea over 1-2 weeks, will progress to the inability to breath, CXR shows bilateral diffuse opacities, lung biopsy shows organizing DAD, tx with mechanical ventilation
  • Fever, cough, worsening dyspnea over 1-2 weeks, Hx of recent lung trauma/injury 1-2 wks prior
  • Hypoxia, tachypnea, crackles
  • CXR (bilateral diffuse opacities), organizing DAD (fibroblasts in alveoli)
  • Mechanical ventilation, immunosuppressant, antibiotics
